ENERGY TRANSFER STATIONS
An Energy Transfer System (ETS) is the interface between a district energy system and a building in the energy network. Each building that is being supplied with energy from the district energy system has an ETS to facilitate energy transfer to the building. The ETS acts as an indirect connection between the district energy network and the buildings through heat exchangers.
Key components of the ETS include:
- Supply and return pipes;
- Heat exchangers to transfer heat to the building’s heating & cooling system;
- Controls to regulate flow based on the building’s energy demand and to maintain temperatures;
- Energy meters to monitor energy used by each customer (for billing and tracking purposes).
